Analysis of

teaching material

 

The topic is taken from Section B of Unit 10. It’s the last reading of Unit 10. Reading practices mainly develop the students’ vocabulary and reading strategies. Also, it is about the the hometown, so the students could take part in the class actively and talk about their own real condition.

Analysis of

students

 

The students are the eighth-grade students. They have taken command of the present perfect tense. And they know the application of present perfect tense. And they can express themselves in English.  

Teaching objectives:

1.Knowledge and abilities

The students could master the key words and phrases, such as

shame, according to.

The students could express by using present perfect tense. 

2.Procedures and methods

The students can learn to use the reading strategies through the task-based methods, group work and so on.

3. Emotional attitudes and moral values:

The students could express their hometown feelings and arouse their love to their hometown.

Teaching key points

1.To let students learn how to use reading strategies in reading comprehension.

2. To let students master the sentence pattern and phrases to talk about the topic.

 To let students master the sentence pattern and phrases to talk about similar topic.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead in (5mintutes)

The teacher asks the three questions to stimulate the students interest.

1.Where is your hometown?

2.Do you like your hometown?

3.What are some of the special places in your hometown?

Step 2 Fast Reading (5mins)(定向自学)

The teacher asks the students to guess the answers and read the passage the quickly to check the answers.

1. Why do millions of Chinese leave the countryside every year?

2. How often do you think these people visit their hometowns?

3. What new buildings does the government usually build in towns and villages?

Step 3 Careful Reading (15mins)(合作研学&展示激学)

The teacher asks questions to let the students read the passage carefully and answer the questions.

1. Read Para.1 and answer.

Q1.What do you know about Zhong Wei?

2.Read Para.2 and answer.

Q1. What changes have happened in their hometowns?

3.Read Para. 3&4 and answer.

Q1. What have the children learned at his old primary school since the mid-20th century?

After the students learn about the passage, the teacher asks the students to complete the exercises in 2b and 2c.

Last, the teacher chooses some students to present their results.

教学反思:这节课我基本完成了教学目标,讲完了知识点,并且能够让学生得到了练习。课堂活动也完成地很流畅。在学生讨论环节,我能够了解学生差异,并且指导学生,我觉得这个环节比较成功。但是还有一些点需要注意。一个是时间的把控,后边知识点稍微有点匆忙,让学生在学案勾出了知识点,并且练习了一下。不过还是基本完成了任务。二是2b和2c的题比较难,没有给学生充足的时间做题,并且后边也没有时间仔细讲解,这个环节可以放在课后巩固,让学生有充足时间回答,并且给学生仔细讲解知识点。还有就是我的ppt在班里的投影显示有些乱板,我在之前试了很多次,还是出现了这个问题。应该在上课之前将所有设备都调试一下,这样才能让课堂更加顺利。以后一定要更加注重设计,并且让提升教学效果。
