Week 3 - The Role of the Teacher
New videos have just gone live for the MOOC on blended learning. This week has the most concrete information yet, and provides strong examples of blended learning in action. The videos focus on how the teacher's role changes in a blended learning setting and the many new roles that teachers are playing. If you have been meaning to take a look at the class, but have not done so yet, don't worry. This week is a great time to jump into the course.
We've also been blown away by the robust conversation on the discussion boards and encourage you to keep it up. It is fascinating to see all of your perspectives on the videos as well as the many topics you are raising to each other. We've added another layer to the Week 3 Discussion Board, by creating groups for K-5, 6-12, and Higher Ed educators. Keep up the great conversations.
If you want to connect further, you can follow the three instructors on Twitter as we are posting additional links and conversations there. Our addresses are: @briangreenberg, @michaelbhorn, and @rschwartz418. Drop us a line and let us know any feedback on the course so far.
Most importantly for Week 3 is your first Peer Graded Assignment (due on November 4). This assignment should bridge the Week 2 Discussion Board topic of defining your goal, with your Week 6 Final Assignment - completing your high-quality blended learning prototype. Don't forget to submit on time and complete your 3 peer reviews by November 11 in order to get credit.
Here's to a great week, and seeing what you all come up with on the first assignment.
Best,
Brian, Michael, and Rob
