week 1
Our course launches today, dig in!
In this class we are going to dive deep into the idea of blended learning, and how people are redesigning primary and secondary schools to thoughtfully use technology and create learning environments that are more personalized for the needs of every student.
The course materials and first week's videos just went live and are available on the course website.
If you are like me, you probably intend to take a lot of courses online, but in reality often do not get around to it.
So here are two suggestions. (1) At least log-in and take a look at the first video or two. If you find them interesting, we can promise they get even better when you start to see what this looks like when real teachers and principals do blended learning in action. (2) Put one hour per week on your calendar now with a title like "Spend an hour on the Coursera Blended Learning class" so that you set aside time to stay with the course.
This course will be as good as what you put into it, and we are already seeing a robust and active community on the discussion form. We look forward to sharing some amazing schools with you, and exposing you to some of the most interesting work happening in the US on this topic.
Welcome to the MOOC on blended learning, and we hope we can learn a lot from each other through this course.
Best,
Brian Greenberg, Silicon Schools Fund
Michael Horn, Christensen Institute
Rob Schwartz, New Teacher Center
